Dental Bridges

What are they?

Placing a bridge after a tooth has been lost can prevent a chain reaction of problems that would affect your entire mouth. A bridge is an excellent, permanent way to replace a missing tooth or teeth and keep a good looking smile. It's custom crafted in a dental laboratory to precisely fit your teeth.

A missing tooth really changes a person's smile, but a bridge is a good way to get your smile back. There are several different types of bridge available, and here at the Cahill Dental Care Centre we can help you to choose the best type of bridge for you.

What types of bridge are available?

Fixed Bridge

Here the false tooth is anchored in by placing a crown on the adjacent teeth, this will be fixed and cannot be moved. The false tooth is normally made of porcelain and is the most common type of bridge.

Resin-bonded / Maryland-bonded Bridge

This type of bridge does not require crowns on the adjacent teeth. These are suitable for replacing front teeth.

Cantilever Bridge

These are used when there is only one healthy tooth on either side of the gap, resulting in the bridge being applied to on or more teeth on one side only.

What are the key benefits?

  • A terrific smile
  • A permanent solution to the problems of a missing tooth
  • Strong, long lasting restorations
