    My Hen Night!

  7. The team are getting tough and muddy….

    June 9, 2017

On Saturday 29th July myself, Michael, Elgan, Gayna, Kat, Charlotte, Fiona (Michael’s wife) and Hellia are attempting (attempting being the key word) to do the Tough Mudder challenge at Broughton Hall, Skipton.  For those of you who haven’t heard of tough mudder before – it is billed as probably the toughest event on the planet.  You have a number of obstacles on the course that include electricity and ice and all other various obstacles to drag you out of your comfort zone.  However, I should confess we aren’t brave enough to do the full Tough Mudder challenge so we are doing the half Tough Mudder challenge.  The half challenge is still going to hard going for us – it is 5 miles of 13 mud-drenched obstacles and adrenaline-pumping challenges specifically designed to test our teamwork and toughness!  Tough Mudder Half isn’t a race – this is something Michael is finding difficult to understand! It’s a challenge and an achievement just to get to the finish line in one piece!  Thankfully with the half challenge we don’t have to endure electricity or ice – just mud!

I am not sure Kat our therapist really knows what she has let herself in for – she asked the other day if she could wear heels as she doesn’t own any flat shoes!! I think she is going to be in for a shock.

Although we are doing the challenge for a fun day out we would like to try and raise some money for a local charity.  At Christmas you may remember that we had a food advent calendar in the practice and donated all the food collected to a local food bank charity called Urban Outreach.  We would like to raise money for the same great charity again.  From now until August we will have a collection box in reception and we will also be asking for sponsorship from our friends and families.   If you would like to make a donation please use this link.

We would also like to raise money for a new charity called Fresh as a Daisy

Any donations made in the practice will be divided between the two charities.

    Wish us luck!

  9. Smile month

    June 7, 2017

Gayna is modelling one of the Smile Month Smilies!

National smile month is a campaign that was set up to promote oral health and is run throughout the months of May/June. We here  are active participants in the campaign and promote the three key messages.
The three key messages that national smile month concentrates on informing people about are :

Brush your teeth last thing at night and also on one other occasion with a toothpaste that contains Fluoride

Cut down on the frequency you consume sugary foods and drinks

Visit your dentist regularly, as often as you are recommended to visit.

We also like to pass on some of the fun facts that the National smile campaign promote as we find them  really interesting for example, did you know that approximately only half of us brush our tongue when brushing even though it significantly reduces the amount of bacteria in our mouth!  Some 61% of us have been attracted to someone by their smile alone and lastly, did you know it takes 43 muscles to frown but only 17 to smile 🙂

If you would like any information on national smile month and how we are involved please feel free to give us a call.
