BDS (Bristol) 1985
GDC No. 60466
I
qualified with Honours from Bristol Dental School in 1985, and have been at the
same practice in Bolton since 1989. I have been married to Fiona since 1987,
and we have 2 grown up sons, George and Henry.
In July of 2015 the practice became part of Portman Dental Care. Portman is a privately owned group of practices, which is currently the fastest growing group in Britain. This has allowed the practice to grow and develop whilst maintaining its excellent reputation for customer care.
I am a general dentist, but I have a special interest in cosmetics, and have been a full member of the BACD for many years. Along with everyone at the practice I am dedicated to treating nervous patients painlessly and comfortably.
I have been carrying out Inhalation Sedation (IHS) for a couple of years now, having trained with the excellent Richard and Chris Charon. I find this an invaluable tool to be able to offor our nervous patients, and it has allowed many people to have treatment that they would have found impossible to tolerate otherwise. It is suitable for all ages, from pre-school children to the elderly, and is a very safe, effective and simple way to reduce or alleviate anxiety in the dental chair.
A titrated dose of oxygen and nitous oxide is given through a comfortable nose piece, which is maintained throughout the dental procedure. Once the procedure is completed 100% oxygen is given for several minutes, and after a short period the patient is able to continue with their usual daily routine with no adverse problems. For adults an accompanying chaperone is not required, and they can even drive after 20-30 minutes.
